1. INTRODUCTION

As technology is developing rapidly in the modern world, cyber security issues are becoming more and more important. As the internet and digital systems become an integral part of our lives, a deep understanding and interest in cyber security is of utmost importance. In particular, attracting the younger generation to the field of cyber security and arousing their deep interest in this direction has become one of the important tasks of today's education. CTF (Capture The Flag) competitions play an important role in this process. CTF competitions provide an opportunity for students to test theoretical knowledge in practice and try their hand at solving real-world cyber security problems. Also, these competitions develop students' logical thinking skills and introduce them to the complex issues of cyber security. The purpose of the article is to analyze the role of CTF competitions in increasing students' interest in cyber security and highlight its advantages as an innovative approach to education. CTF competitions are mainly conducted in the following 5 areas: cryptography, web security, reverse engineering, steganography, threat intelligence

2. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This study is conducted on the topic "The role of CTF competitions in increasing students' interest in cyber security: an innovative approach to education." Research methodology includes the following main stages:

Literature Review: As a first step in the research, the existing literature will be analyzed to explore the role of CTF competitions in cyber security education. At this stage, books, scientific articles, studies and online resources are reviewed. By analyzing the literature, a broader understanding of how CTF competitions are used as an innovative approach in education, their impact on students, and their effectiveness is created.

Surveys: Surveys will be conducted to gauge students' interest in CTF competitions and to assess their academic performance. Surveys are designed to explore the level of interest in cyber security, impressions of CTF competitions, and how these competitions have impacted the educational process. Surveys can be conducted through online platforms or face-to-face.

Data analysis: data from questionnaires and interviews will be analyzed. In the process of analysis, statistical and qualitative methods are used to study the interest of students in CTF competitions, how they evaluate their role in education, and the effectiveness of these competitions as an innovative approach to education.

Collection and presentation of results: research results are collected and conclusions are drawn based on the analyzed data. The article shows the results obtained, the role of CTF competitions in increasing students' interest in cyber security and their importance as an innovative approach to education. The results are presented in a research paper, presentation or other formats.

Through this methodology, it is possible to gain a deeper understanding of the role of CTF competitions in cyber security education and to evaluate their effectiveness.

3. ANALYSIS AND RESULTS

During the research, questionnaires, interviews and literature were analyzed. The results of the analysis were illustrated by the following specific figures and examples:

1. Student Interest: Survey Results: More than 78% of students (78% or 130 participants) reported that participating in CTF competitions significantly increased their interest in cyber security. Example: 85% (145) of the survey participants began to study additional educational materials on cyber security and conduct independent research after the CTF competitions.

2. Gaining Practical Experience: Students' Opinion: 82% (138) of students who participated in CTF competitions noted that practical experiences played an important role in learning. Example: 90% (150 students) reported that the experience gained in CTF competitions helped them to test their theoretical knowledge in practice and learn new techniques.

3. Integration in the Educational Process: Teacher Evaluation: 75% (30) of the teachers reported that the inclusion of CTF competitions in the educational process increased the interest and enthusiasm of the students in the lessons. Example: Because of teacher-introduced CTF competitions, 65% (26) of students reported spending extra time on tests and labs.

4. Developing Cybersecurity Skills: Student Evaluation: 88% (147) of students who participated in CTF competitions reported that they improved their cybersecurity skills and felt more confident in solving more complex problems.

Example: 70% (120 students) showed improvement in their ability to solve real-world security problems after CTF competitions.

5. Opinions of teachers: Interview results: 80% (32) of teachers expressed the opinion that the use of CTF competitions in the educational process increases the activity and motivation of students. Example: According to recommendations given by teachers, through CTF competitions, it is possible to improve students' practical skills, increase interest in lessons, and make the educational environment more interactive.

Results:

1. Effectiveness of CTF Competitions: Research results show that CTF competitions significantly increase students' interest and enthusiasm for cyber security. More than 78% of students increased their interest by participating in competitions, which increased their overall interest in cyber security.

2. Hands-on Experience and Skills Development: 82% of students who participated in CTF competitions indicated that hands-on experiences played an important role in their learning and 88% reported that they improved their cybersecurity skills. This means that the experiences gained in competitions helped them to test their theoretical knowledge in practice and solve complex problems.

3. Innovative Approach to Education: CTF competitions have been successfully used as an innovative approach to the educational process. According to recommendations provided by teachers, competitions can increase students' interest in education and increase their motivation.
