ABSTRACT

This paper used exploratory sequential mixed techniques to describe mitigation attempts and investigate how digitalization technology change affects rural entrepreneurship. Analyzing patterns of entrepreneurial activity was made less ambiguous by using the policy acceptance model method. Semi-structured interviews and questionnaires along with ethnographic observations were used to gather data. The findings demonstrated that the digitalization and technological transformation of rural business opens up a number of new opportunities. These consist of fair employment prospects, family-run businesses, and regional economic expansion.

Introduction

Digitalization of rural entrepreneurship is becoming increasingly important, and strategies for regional and international development should prioritize this. Based on the potential of local wisdom in a rural social solidarity economy (SSE) transformation model, it offers new challenges and opportunities. Regional development potential and economic growth are also enhanced by digitalization. But the positive aspects of this subject have not been explored, only the drawbacks. Digital technology adds value to the economy, but value creation requires identifying the opportunities it creates [1].

Future research topics will be influenced by the major changes that digital platforms, infrastructure, and technology have brought about in terms of new job prospects and entrepreneurial innovation. In rural locations, digitalization technology has the potential to manage and favorably affect the surrounding environment. But it might also worsen social inequality and interfere with welfare. Technology for digitalization promotes economic growth and opens up new work prospects, but it also breeds inequality and worries about the labor market. Even though earlier research revealed persisting global digital inequality, it is still possible to maximize the beneficial effects while minimizing the negative ones. Thus, research on mitigating the adverse effects may yield valuable insights and policy recommendations for closing the digital technology divide in rural areas. [3].

Literature Review

According to recent research, the way that digital technology is changing entrepreneurship and connecting businesses has encouraged many family-run businesses to innovate by creating new business models. But this progress has also led to a number of global and rural-urban digital gaps, disparities, disabilities, and gender, age, and ethnic inequality. The shifts affecting entrepreneurial behavior have been brought to light by the hypothesis of the potential for digitalization technologies in rural entrepreneurship. Nonetheless, it is thought that the current theory is inadequate. Steininger et al. (2022) claim that there is a lack of microeconomic evidence about the effects of governmental interventions on promoting the emergence and expansion of digital entrepreneurship. Consequently, research on the core microeconomic data that this work describes is required to close this gap [9].

Metodology

The study employed the experimental theoretical policy acceptance model (PAM) method to assess and evaluate the awareness and behavioral shift of policy institutions and entrepreneurial business actors. This approach lessened the possibility of interpreting unseen, non-generalizable, and uniform behavioral patterns with uncertainty. This study first looked at the important factors influencing the digitalization and technological transformation of rural entrepreneurship. The sequential method started with a qualitative phase that investigated rural areas' entrepreneurial company behavior with reference to digitalization technologies. In order to investigate the primary issue and the adoption of digital technology in dynamic and complicated rural areas, our exploratory sequential mixed methods methodology integrates and synergizes data sources [6].

Semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and ethnographic observations of rural business owners were used to gather primary data. The method that came next was semi-structured. Purposive and snowball sampling were employed in accordance with the exploratory design to further evaluate the primary quantitative data. Nevertheless, the variable pertaining to the transformation of digitalization technologies on entrepreneurship was not applicable in the subsequent stage of qualitative study. In the second stage, this made the application of the exploratory design process necessary. After the first stage's data were examined, the knowledge was used to create the following quantitative step, which was then built upon in this manuscript. For responders who were all the same, quantitative data were gathered using a straightforward random sample method. Though it might be applied scientifically, the processing was still in the experimental model stage [7]. To strengthen the analysis and improve the validity and reliability of the data, these deficiencies were addressed through the implementation of a systematic literature study approach.

Results and Discussion

Digital technology advancements have contributed to the growth of the rural villages under study. The shift to digital technology has affected the way people behave economically even in rural locations. In the economy, consumption, production, and sustainable business systems have shifted from analog to digital technology. On the other hand, inequality has increased due to the uneven and inhumane development of digital technology. Inequality between rural and urban areas may have decreased as a result of digital technology in rural development [10]. That being said, the distinction between inequality in rural and urban areas was not the main emphasis of this study.

As a result, a new entrepreneurial economic strategy based on the potential of local community wisdom and the SSE model of social innovation transformation system is required. In sustainable villages, the new paradigm might be used in tandem with digital technology to reduce poverty, unemployment, and inequality while boosting production. Because it is humanist in nature and distinct from the conventional materialistic capitalist socio-economic model, the SSE model of social innovation has the potential to bridge the gap in social entrepreneurship theory. Hence, social innovation in rural regions does not entail overthrowing an established order. On the other hand, it concerns how many social innovations can coexist in pluralism for the good of the community [8].

Conclusion

The shift to digital technology has both positive and negative effects that are more complicated and dynamic. Its performance in sustainable development cannot be adequately assessed and needs to be looked into globally. In rural places, digitalization technology promotes economic growth by opening up business and well-paying job opportunities. However, by widening the gap in income between families and individuals, it has compromised well-being. During the first stage, technology causes unemployment to rise more quickly than it does new work prospects.

The long-term benefits of digitization are consistent with the growing inequality that results from it in rural areas. On the basis of the capacity of the local humanist community's wisdom, the new SSE transformation system model may, nevertheless, be able to somewhat lessen this inequality. This is because the conventional transformation function of the models is a tactic to boost possibilities for decent work and reduce inequality. The goal and fundamental character traits of a family social entrepreneur under the SEE model might not entirely align with the existing capitalist socio-economic structure.
